We are just one month away from the start of the new year!

I know—it’s hard to believe since it feels like July was just a couple days ago!

Now that you’ve composed yourself, are you ready for 2025?

If you’re like a lot of people, you’re still trying to accomplish your 2024 goals. Planning for 2025 may be limited to some budgeting or general planning. But here’s the truth—the sooner you start making concrete plans for 2025, the more likely you’ll find success.

With that in mind, here are five simple things you can do now to be ready to hit the ground running in 2025.

  • Define your priorities. As the clock ticks down on New Year’s Eve 2025, what do you want to have accomplished? Think big picture in your professional, personal, and purpose areas. What are the major goals you want to achieve?
  • Know your Why. In his book Start With Why, Simon Sinek unpacks the importance of knowing your why and how it can be the difference between failure and success. Understanding why your priorities matter will help you focus your energy.
  • Review Resources. Start thinking about what resources (time, money, people, etc.) will be needed to achieve your goals for 2025. If you don’t have these resources available, how are you going to get them?
  • Define Success. Knowing exactly what a win looks like is critical to evaluating your results. Is it a win simply to complete your goal, or are there specific metrics you must analyze to determine if you were successful?
  • Set Quarterly Goals. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and you won’t accomplish your 2025 priorities overnight. Make manageable goals for each quarter that will help you cross the finish line a winner.

2025 is full of new opportunities to achieve greatness in every area of your life. But as race car driver Bobby Unser said, “Success is where preparation and opportunity meet.”

I encourage you to take some time in the next month to prepare for all that you’ll accomplish in 2025. A year from now, you’ll be glad for the investment you made in yourself.

Goal Setting for 2027: Why “Next Year Was Better” Beats “Next Year Will Be Better”

Believe it or not, it's time to start goal setting for 2027. I know, I know — you just got 2026 figured out. But stick with me for a minute. You've probably heard someone say “next year is going to be my year.” Maybe you've even said it yourself, somewhere around...

The Limiting Beliefs You Outgrew as a Kid (And the Ones Still Running Your Life)

Kids believe the strangest things — and as adults, we carry our own kind of limiting beliefs that are just as untrue. Take my childhood, for example. My older brother once told me that eating a certain dish I hated would make hair grow on my chest. I believed him and...

This Book Isn’t Getting My Recommendation — But This Habit Is: Writing Down Your Goals

I often recommend books I’m reading. This one isn't getting my recommendation — except for one habit worth stealing from it: writing down your goals every single day. The book is Be Obsessed or Be Average by Grant Cardone. If you don't know him, Cardone is a sales...
