I hope you’re sitting down for what you’re about to read next. It could be a little…triggering.

Here’s the truth. We are halfway through 2025!

It’s ok. Take whatever time you need. This is a blog post. We’re on your time, here.

Ok, all jokes aside about how fast this year is year is going, what you should be asking yourself right now is this. Are you on track to reach your 2025 goals?

If you are on track, or even ahead of schedule, that’s fantastic! You should use this midway point in the year as an opportunity to celebrate. I’m not talking about anything outrageous. But you should acknowledge your positive progress.

If you’re not where you hoped you’d be halfway through the year, don’t despair. There is still time to get back on track before we welcome in 2026. What’s important right now is to use this moment to reset.

The RESET Framework

So, what’s the best way to assess your progress and develop a plan for the second half of the year? I use a framework I call RESET to help me get back on track.

I talked about this more on Episode 15 of my podcast last week, but this is such an important topic I had to write about it here as well.

RESET is an acronym and it’s an easy way to remember the steps you want to take. It stands for Reflect, Evaluate, Set new intentions, Energize your systems, and Take action. Let break down each step.

Reflect

Start by looking back at what you’ve already accomplished so far this year. It’s important that you are completely honest. It doesn’t help to lie to yourself. If you’ve dropped that ball, acknowledge that so you can move forward.

In the Wholistic Productivity Planner I have a section for users to track their Detours—or anything that distracts them from accomplishing their daily goals. We can apply this same process during our Reflect process.

Identifying the reasons why we’re behind on our annual goals can help us eliminate the issues that are holding us back. Take away the roadblock and you should have smooth sailing.

I mentioned celebration earlier and even if you are behind, it’s ok to celebrate the wins you’ve had. It’s not an all-or-nothing scenario. You can celebrate your wins while still acknowledging the areas you’re struggling in.

Evaluate

Once you’ve reflected on where you are, it’s time to evaluate if you’re still headed in the right direction. A lot can happen in 6 months. The goals you set at the end of 2024, or the beginning of 2025, may need to be revised based on your current situation.

It’s perfectly ok to change your goals or modify them. This is not an admission of failure. It’s allowing your goals to evolve with you and your situation. This is the time to revise, reschedule, or even remove goals that are no longer relevant.

Hopefully you’ve been doing this along the way as things change but I know how many people don’t think about this in real time.

Set New Intentions

After you reflect and evaluate your goals, it’s time to set new intentions. This is the perfect time to reconnect with your “why.” It’s time to map out new intentions that are aligned with your values and vision.

Depending on what you found in the first two steps, this may be as simple as adjusting your timelines or maybe changing the order of certain goals. But there are times when you need to create new goals altogether to address the new realities.

Use the Goal Roadmap process to create any new goals that will help you cross the finish line by December 31.  (Check out Episode 5 of the Wholistic Productivity Podcast for more on this process).

Energize Your Systems

During the Reflect step, you may have realized that some of your systems are broken. James Clear, author of Atomic Habits, famously said,

“You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.”

Your routines, habits, workflows, planner, software, and even your support system are systems that you use every day to be productive. If one of these systems has flaws, it could be holding you back.

Don’t hold back on this step; nothing should be sacred. If you’re doing things the way you’ve always done them, it’s time to start asking if this is the best way to do things. If the answer is yes, great! Keep doing it. If the answer is no, this is the time to make a change.

Look for systems that could use more structure or ones that could use more flexibility. Usually, addressing these two things can have a big impact on your systems.

Take Action

The final step of the RESET process is to take action. It’s not rocket science, here folks. You’ve done all the other steps, how it’s time to get your tail in gear and start working the plan.

If you’ve completed a Goal Roadmap, you know what your milestones are, and you have identified what steps you need to take to reach your milestones. It’s time to start working the plan. It seems so obvious, but you’d be surprised how often we craft a perfect plan, only to fail to act.

You can use the RESET framework anytime to get back on track, but it makes a lot of sense here at the halfway point of the year. No matter when you do a RESET, it becomes a great opportunity to pivot and move toward success.

If you have questions or want to talk through your mid-year RESET, you can always schedule a free strategy call at https://wholprod.link/strategy. I’d love to hear what you have planned for the rest of the year and help you RESET to be able to accomplish your 2025 goals.
