We are just one month away from the start of the new year!

I know—it’s hard to believe since it feels like July was just a couple days ago!

Now that you’ve composed yourself, are you ready for 2025?

If you’re like a lot of people, you’re still trying to accomplish your 2024 goals. Planning for 2025 may be limited to some budgeting or general planning. But here’s the truth—the sooner you start making concrete plans for 2025, the more likely you’ll find success.

With that in mind, here are five simple things you can do now to be ready to hit the ground running in 2025.

  • Define your priorities. As the clock ticks down on New Year’s Eve 2025, what do you want to have accomplished? Think big picture in your professional, personal, and purpose areas. What are the major goals you want to achieve?
  • Know your Why. In his book Start With Why, Simon Sinek unpacks the importance of knowing your why and how it can be the difference between failure and success. Understanding why your priorities matter will help you focus your energy.
  • Review Resources. Start thinking about what resources (time, money, people, etc.) will be needed to achieve your goals for 2025. If you don’t have these resources available, how are you going to get them?
  • Define Success. Knowing exactly what a win looks like is critical to evaluating your results. Is it a win simply to complete your goal, or are there specific metrics you must analyze to determine if you were successful?
  • Set Quarterly Goals. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and you won’t accomplish your 2025 priorities overnight. Make manageable goals for each quarter that will help you cross the finish line a winner.

2025 is full of new opportunities to achieve greatness in every area of your life. But as race car driver Bobby Unser said, “Success is where preparation and opportunity meet.”

I encourage you to take some time in the next month to prepare for all that you’ll accomplish in 2025. A year from now, you’ll be glad for the investment you made in yourself.
